Outage Freezes Tokyo Stock Exchange, the third-largest in the world
The Tokyo Stock Exchange plans to resume normal operations on Friday after it halted trading for the day due to what they described as a malfunction in computer systems – the worst outage of its kind ever. There was no indication that the disruption of the world’s third-largest exchange resulted from piracy.
We are very sorry for the problems we caused, and after a while the exchange issued a statement saying it would open as usual on Friday, and said it did not expect any problems in resuming trading, » the Exchange Chairman and CEO Koichiro Mihara told reporters late Thursday.
